Greek Life at Bellarmine

Find Your Community

Fraternity and Sorority Life at Å©·òµ¼º½ offers students meaningful opportunities to build friendships, grow as leaders, serve others, and deepen their connection to campus.

Our community is intentionally small and values-driven, allowing members to experience:

  • Close-knit brotherhood and sisterhood
  • Leadership development
  • Academic support
  • Service and philanthropy
  • Lifelong connections

Greek Life at Bellarmine is rooted in our Catholic mission to educate the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and to prepare students for lives of purpose and impact.

Our Current Community

Bellarmine’s Greek community is growing thoughtfully and currently includes:

Interfraternity Council (IFC)
  • Alpha Delta Gamma
Panhellenic (NPC)
  • Phi Mu
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) – City-Wide Chapters
  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
  • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
  • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Because our community is small, members often enjoy greater access to leadership roles, personalized support, and strong campus connections.

How Greek Organizations Come to Campus

Students sometimes ask how new fraternities or sororities are added at Bellarmine. While student interest is an important part of the conversation, bringing a new Greek organization to campus is a formal, multi-step partnership process between the University and the national organization.

This process is different from starting a Registered Student Organization (RSO).

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)

Students can typically start an RSO by:

  • Gathering student interest (at least 5 interested students)
  • Submitting a student organization application
  • Having a faculty/staff advisor selected

RSOs are student-initiated and student-led from the beginning.

Greek Organization Expansion

Fraternities and sororities follow a more structured expansion process because they are part of national organizations and involve additional risk management, advising, and long-term sustainability considerations.

Greek expansion typically includes:

  • Interest expressed by a national organization
  • Formal application submission
  • University and council review
  • Formal evaluation of organizational fit
  • A structured interview or presentation process
  • An approved expansion/rush period

Because of these additional layers, the timeline for bringing a new Greek organization to campus is longer and more selective than the RSO process. It can take over a year to bring a new Greek organization to campus.

Our Approach

Bellarmine is committed to intentional and responsible growth of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Not every interest group results in a new chapter, and expansion does not occur every year.

Our focus is on ensuring that any new organization:

  • Aligns with Bellarmine’s mission and values
  • Has strong national support
  • Is positioned for long-term success
  • Enhances the student experience
What This Means for Students

Students are welcome to share interest in Greek Life and explore involvement opportunities. However:

  • Student interest alone does not establish a new fraternity or sorority
  • Organizations may not recruit, collect dues, or operate as chapters without University approval
  • Updates about potential expansion opportunities will be shared through official Bellarmine channels
