Dr. Natasha Vijay Munshi has been named the new dean of the W. Fielding Rubel School of Business at 农夫导航. Munshi, associate dean of Graduate Business in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary鈥檚 College of California (SMC), will begin her new duties on August 1.

Munshi was chosen following a national search. Dr. Frank Raymond has served as interim dean since August 2019.

鈥淒r. Munshi distinguished herself in a highly competitive and national pool of candidates through her alignment with 农夫导航鈥檚 mission and vision, and through her vision for the future of the Rubel School of Business. We are excited to welcome Dr. Munshi to our community this summer and look forward to her contributions to the University and our region,鈥 said Dr. Paul Gore, vice president for Academic Affairs and provost. 鈥淲e appreciate Dr. Raymond's willingness to lead the Rubel School through this transition.鈥

Munshi said it is an honor to take on the dean鈥檚 role at the Rubel School. 鈥淚 look forward to engaging with alumni, the Greater Louisville business community and international partners to enhance the Rubel School of Business鈥 profile, in the region and beyond.鈥

As associate dean at SMC, Munshi oversees nine graduate business programs: the Executive Doctorate of Business Administration; Executive MBA; Global EMBA; Professional MBA; EMBA Shanghai; MS in Management; MS in Business Analytics; MS in Accounting; and MS in Finance. She is also a professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship and a visiting professor at the University of Lugano in Switzerland.

She brings nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher-scholar in the field of Strategy and Innovation in the UK, Europe, China and USA to Bellarmine, along with significant practical experience as a strategy consultant. At SMC, she has built new degree programs and developed certificate programs for San Francisco Bay Area companies; re-invigorated existing legacy programs, such as the flagship EMBA program; and increased enrollment in graduate business programs.

鈥淚 plan to strategically focus the expertise and collective strength of the talented Rubel School faculty and staff to build novel graduate and undergraduate business programs and to support key existing programs at the school,鈥 she said. 鈥淏y collaborating with other schools on campus, we will launch new cross-disciplinary majors and degree programs and increase the reach and breadth of the Business School鈥檚 offerings. Through accessible and affordable programs that also attract new audiences, I aim for greater inclusiveness and diversity in our student population, which would align with the mission and strategic plan of 农夫导航 and define our sense of community and purpose. By developing non-degree and custom certificate programs that support life-long learning, I see us better serving alumni and expanding our regional and international partnership opportunities, which will ensure the continued success and longevity of the Rubel School of Business.鈥

Munshi holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA in International Business and Management from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., a master鈥檚 in biochemistry from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in zoology and biochemistry from St. Xavier鈥檚 College at the University of Bombay.

The Rubel School is on a positive trajectory. Over the past two years, the school has completed an innovative realignment of its MBA program, launched a monthly series of community workshops and speaker sessions, and created professional advisory boards for each department in the college.
