Seven 农夫导航 alumni and a member of the Rubel School of Business鈥 Executive Board are among the 47 community leaders selected to Leadership Louisville Center鈥檚 Bingham Fellows Class of 2022.

Over the next year, the 2022 class will tackle the topic 鈥淢oving Downtown Forward: Adapt & Reinvent,鈥 exploring ways to re-energize Louisville鈥檚 city center following two years of pandemic and racial unrest.

The eight Bingham Fellows with Bellarmine ties are:

  • Christian Adelberg 鈥95, Kentucky Performing Arts

  • Carrie Butler 鈥94, Transit Authority of River City (TARC)

  • Josh Zik 鈥10, the Al J. Schneider Company, AJS Hotels

Bingham Fellows, created in 1988 through a $500,000 endowment from Mary and Barry Bingham Sr., brings about 40 experienced Louisville leaders together each year to address issues critical to the region鈥檚 future success.

The Class of 2022 will explore challenges and opportunities facing downtown Louisville that include increasing foot traffic; repurposing vacant office space; supporting locally owned small businesses; addressing homelessness and public safety; and improving people鈥檚 perceptions of the urban core.

"Many initiatives I've been involved with over the course of my career have focused on projects that have helped transform downtown鈥攆rom the creation of Louisville Slugger Field, building-sized murals and new or improved hotels and attractions, to the focus on bourbon tourism that is such an anchor for Louisville today. So I feel a personal connection and investment in downtown's success,鈥 said Kamer, who works in public relations and communications. 鈥淒owntowns are the economic and cultural hub of a city, and I'm looking forward to working with this exceptional Bingham Fellows class to build a strategy to help Louisville's downtown rebound from the challenges of the past couple years."

Bingham Fellows meet monthly as a group and in smaller teams outside the program days. The full group will present its final recommendations in January 2023.
