Fr. Robert Barron will present a lecture titled "The Metaphysics of Co-Inherence:
A Meditation on the Essence of the Christian Message" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February
17 in 农夫导航鈥檚 Frazier Hall. []
The annual Vernon Robertson Lecture will open with a welcome by Bellarmine鈥檚 president,
Dr. Joseph McGowan. Dr. Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty, chair of Bellarmine鈥檚 theology department,
will introduce Barron.
Barron is the rector of Mundelein Seminary and University of St. Mary of the Lake
in Illinois. He was the creator and host of 鈥淐atholicism,鈥 a television series that
appeared on Public Broadcasting Service in 2011. He holds a doctor of sacred theology
from Institut Catholique de Paris and has authored 10 books and numerous journal articles
on theology and spiritual life.
The lecture commemorates Fr. Vernon Robertson, who was a priest in the Archdiocese
of Louisville and a social justice advocate concerned with issues of poverty and education.
鈥淔r. Barron is one of the premier Catholic public intellectuals today,鈥 said Dr. Joseph
Flipper, an assistant professor of theology at Bellarmine. 鈥淗e presents the Catholic
intellectual tradition as a source for understanding modern culture and reads modern
culture through the eyes of faith. The members of the Bellarmine community, and especially
the students, are enthusiastic for the upcoming lecture.鈥
